The Wellcome Sanger Institute is opening its doors to highly skilled professionals in neuroscience and molecular biology for an exciting position as a Technical Specialist in Neurodegenerative Disease Spatial Transcriptomics and Data Generation.

Hosted within the renowned Bayraktar Lab, this role is deeply embedded in cutting-edge research focused on unraveling the molecular complexities of neurodegenerative disorders using advanced spatial transcriptomics tools. Funded by Open Targets, the project aims to produce high-resolution spatial datasets from diseased brain tissue using platforms such as Xenium and multiplexed protein imaging.

This is a fixed-term 2-year position ideally suited for candidates with a Master’s degree in biological sciences or equivalent laboratory experience. You will contribute to critical steps in experimental preparation, imaging, and optimization while collaborating closely with researchers and computational scientists. Experience in histology, tissue sectioning, data generation, and method optimization will be key to success in this role.

Beyond technical duties, this position will also involve project coordination, data sharing, and potentially training others, offering an engaging and dynamic research environment.

Located at the Wellcome Trust Genome Campus in Hinxton, UK, the role offers a competitive salary in the range of £40,523 to £48,143, depending on experience.
