Do you want to contribute to cutting-edge interdisciplinary research on sustainability and pollinator conservation? The University of Bergen (UiB) is hiring a Research Assistant for the BUTTERFLY project, part of the Horizon Europe initiative. This full-time, fixed-term role starts October 1, 2025, and runs through September 1, 2026, with potential for extension.
About the Center and the BUTTERFLY Project
The Center for the Theory of Science (SVT) at UiB is an interfaculty hub for teaching and research in science theory and ethics. SVT’s work spans sustainability, societal impact, and academic ethics, and it leads the interdisciplinary BUTTERFLY project, tackling pollinator decline through Living Labs and sectoral engagement across Europe.

Key Responsibilities
The research assistant will support both the academic and administrative dimensions of the BUTTERFLY project:

Conduct literature reviews and systematic database searches

Coordinate research across European partner institutions

Assist with workshops, presentations, and outreach

Contribute to empirical data collection

Maintain the project’s WordPress-based website
-
Provide editorial and bibliographic support (Zotero, NVivo, MS-Forms, etc.)
You’ll be expected to manage multiple tasks at once and collaborate closely with researchers and project leaders.
Qualifications & Desired Skills
Required:
-
Master’s degree in environmental social sciences, humanities, or sustainability/governance fields

Strong command of Norwegian (or another Scandinavian language) and English

Experience with literature reviews and large databases (e.g., Web of Science)
Preferred:
-
Experience in environmental communication or sustainability governance
-
Familiarity with Zotero, NVivo, VosViewer, Bibliometrix, Microsoft Office, WordPress
-
Knowledge or research experience related to pollinator loss/human-nature relationships
Personal qualities such as initiative, collaboration, and organization skills will be emphasized.
