Pursue a PhD in Quantum Metamaterials at ETH Zürich – Explore the Future of Photonics

ETH Zürich, a world-renowned institution in science and technology, is inviting applications for a PhD position in its Optical Nanomaterial Group within the Department of Physics. This exciting opportunity focuses on the development of quantum metamaterials — a frontier technology pushing the boundaries of optical devices.

The project revolves around the fabrication and characterization of solution-derived metal-oxides like barium titanate or lithium niobate for quantum light applications. You’ll work hands-on with innovative synthesis methods, advanced nanofabrication (including nanoimprint lithography), and optical testing ranging from linear to quantum optics.

Ideal candidates should hold a Master’s degree in Physics, Nanotechnology, Material Science, or Photonics and should possess a passion for interdisciplinary research. You will also contribute to the theoretical design of metasurfaces and validate them through numerical simulations and experimental work.
