The Technische Universität Dresden invites applications for a Postdoctoral Research Fellow position in the group of Prof. Dr. med. Nikolaos Perakakis, specializing in the integration of multi-omics data to advance understanding, diagnosis, and treatment of metabolic diseases such as obesity, diabetes, and metabolic-dysfunction associated steatotic liver diseases.

This interdisciplinary team collaborates closely with national and international partners, including the German Center for Diabetes Research (DZD) and King’s College London through the TransCampus initiative.

Short Description Postdoc position in bioinformatics at TU Dresden focusing on multi-omics data integration for metabolic disease research, with machine learning applications.
  • Integrate multi-omics datasets (proteomics, metabolomics, genomics/transcriptomics) for ongoing and new research projects.

  • Develop machine learning models for biomarker discovery, patient stratification, and disease trajectory prediction.

  • Collaborate with clinicians, bioinformaticians, systems biologists, and experimental researchers.

  • Publish high-impact papers and present findings at conferences.

  • Supervise PhD students and junior researchers.


Required Qualifications

  • PhD in bioinformatics, computational biology, systems biology, biostatistics, or related discipline (degree obtained 2020 or later).

  • Expertise in multi-omics data analysis and machine learning.

  • Proficiency in Python and/or R, with experience in relevant libraries (scikit-learn, TensorFlow/PyTorch, Bioconductor).

  • Strong publication record in relevant fields.

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively.

  • Excellent written and spoken English.

Preferred experience:

  • Handling clinical and biomedical datasets.

  • Knowledge of immunology and FACS analysis.
